§ 58. Brigadier-General Clifton Brownasked the Parliamentary Secretary to the Ministry of Food whether he has considered the copy sent to him of a resolution passed by the Agricultural Council of England and Wales on 8th December that the new structure of milk prices will, inter alia, be detrimental to the interests of both producers and consumers; and whether he will get into touch with the Milk Marketing Board and producers' organisations in order to revise exorbitant charges of distribution and to give confidence to small milk producers?
§ Mr. MabaneI have seen a copy of the Resolution to which my hon. and gallant Friend refers. My Noble Friend does not agree that the new price structure is detrimental to the interests of either producers or consumers and he sees no occasion for taking the course suggested in the second part of the Question.
Brigadier-General BrownWill my hon. Friend keep in touch with the bodies that do know what they are talking about, and consider any recommendations to improve the working of the scheme, which is not satisfactory now?
§ Mr. MabaneI ought to point out that the Milk Marketing Board is concerned with the producers' interests, and this is a distribution scheme.
