HC Deb 10 December 1942 vol 385 c1698
53. Mr. Loftus

asked the Minister of Agriculture whether he is taking steps to ensured the utilisation of grass cut on all aerodromes as dried grass for stock thereby both saving shipping tonnage and aiding increased milk production?

Mr. Hudson

Arrangements have been made with the Air Ministry for contact to be made locally between station commanders and the county war agricultural executive committees, whereby the latter assume responsibility for the use of suitable parts of aerodromes as arable, or as grass for hay, silage or drying.

Mr. Loftus

Can my right hon. Friend tell me whether any of this grass—a most valuable food—has already been dried and utilised for cattle feeding?

Mr. Hudson

I could not say without notice.

Mr. Loftus

If I put a Question down, may I have a reply later?

Mr. Hudson

I doubt it.
