HC Deb 09 December 1942 vol 385 cc1545-6
20. Sir Ralph Glyn

asked the Parliamentary Secretary to the Ministry of War Transport whether the locomotives manufactured in the United States of America and now arriving for service on British railways are so designed and constructed as to be immediately available for use?

The Joint Parliamentary Secretary to the Ministry of War Transport (Mr. Noel-Baker)

My Department expect that the American locomotives to which my hon. Friend refers will be under steam within a few days of their arrival. I am glad to take this opportunity of expressing the gratitude of His Majesty's Government for the timely assistance which is being rendered to us by the United States.
