HC Deb 03 December 1942 vol 385 c1310
71. Major Milner

asked the Secretary of State for War what proportion of officers in the Army of the rank of captain and under have held their rank for a period of three years so as to entitle them to the increased pay; and whether the officers concerned have to hold the same rank during the whole of the period in order to qualify?

Mr. A. Henderson

I regret that the information is not available and could only be obtained by examining the records of all the captains and lieutenants in the Army. Officers who have completed an aggregate of three years' service in the paid rank of captain or higher are eligible to receive the new rate of 17s. 6d. a day.
