HC Deb 03 December 1942 vol 385 cc1306-7
65. Mr. Viant

asked the Parliamentary Secretary to the Ministry of Food whether the powers granted to local food committees to withdraw shopkeepers' trading licences in circumstances following their conviction have now been withdrawn?

The Parliamentary Secretary to the Ministry of Food (Mr. Mabane)

The power possessed by food control committees to revoke licences granted by them has not been withdrawn, but the instructions to food control committees are not to revoke the licence of any trader on the grounds of his convictions without reference to my Department. My noble Friend has decided to examine personally all cases before revocation is decided upon.
