HC Deb 01 December 1942 vol 385 c1004
56. Squadron-Leader Errington

asked the Chancellor of the Exchequer whether he is aware that there are a number of plumbers, joiners, contractors, etc., who do repairs to their own premises which have suffered war damage and who get no recompense for their work; and will the War Damage Commission consider their case?

Sir K. Wood

I would refer my hon. and gallant Friend to the answer given to my hon. Friend the Member for Holborn (Sir R. Tasker) on 17th March last [OFFICIAL REPORT, Volume 378, column 1351]. The position is more fully described in paragraphs 30 to 32 inclusive of the Commission's "Practice Notes," of which I am sending my hon. and gallant Friend a copy.

Squadron-Leader Errington

Does that answer mean that the right hon. Gentleman is prepared to do nothing?

Sir K. Wood

Perhaps the hon. and gallant Gentleman will consider the answer which I have given.
