asked the Secretary of State for War whether he has any official information about the special German battalion which furnishes detachments headed by civilian experts to accompany the German invading armies for the purpose of seizing all objects of artistic, literary, or historic value, in contravention of Article 6 of the Hague Convention of 1907?

I am aware of the reports about these detachments and their activities.

Is my right hon. Friend aware that full particulars of this German battalion's scandalous activities have been published in "Soviet War News," and if the facts there given are correct, will my right hon. Friend consider giving them wider publicity?

I am certainly aware that the reports did appear in "Soviet War News," and certainly I will consider the other suggestion which my hon. and gallant Friend has made.
