§ 44. Mr. Norman Bowerasked the Home Secretary whether, in view of the recent raising of the ban on the Communist Party in India, he will now reconsider the question of removing the ban on the publication of the "Daily Worker" in this country?
§ Mr. H. MorrisonI am not unaware of the action recently taken in India, but I do not think that that action is a conclusive argument for removing the ban on the publication of the "Daily Worker" in this country.
§ Mr. BowerIn view of the fact that the ban on the Communist party's newspapers in India has also been lifted, does not my right hon. Friend think it would be consistent to deprive the "Daily Worker" of the benefits of martydom and give it one more chance?
§ Mr. MorrisonIt does not follow that what is expedient in India is expedient in Great Britain. I must consider the matter on its merits as affecting this country.
