HC Deb 05 August 1942 vol 382 cc1028-9
48. Mr. Cocks

asked the Prime Minister whether the great experience of General de Gaulle as a specialist in tank warfare is at the disposal of His Majesty's Government; and, if so, whether it is being utilised to the fullest extent?

Mr. Attlee

I would refer my hon. Friend to the reply which my hon. Friend the Financial Secretary to the War Office gave on 24th February last in reply to a Question by my hon. Friend the Member for Govan (Mr. Neil Maclean) of which I am sending him a copy.

Mr. Cocks

As I am not aware of that answer, could the right hon. Gentleman give me an indication of it now; or would he consider, providing that General de Gaulle is agreeable, offering him the command of one of our armoured divisions either in Libya or elsewhere?

Mr. Attlee

That is another question. If the hon. Member will look at the reply, I think he will see that it has been already answered
