HC Deb 05 August 1942 vol 382 c1033
57. Flight-Lieutenant Boothby

asked the Parliamentary Secretary to the Ministry of Food whether he will give a definite assurance that the whole of this year's crop of sweet marketable oats will be purchased by his Department?

Mr. Mabane

No, Sir, nearly two-thirds of the crop will be required for use on the farms where it was grown, either for feeding livestock or as seed for the following year. The Ministry of Food, however, intends to purchase from the trade as large a quantity of sweet marketable oats as are available without prejudicing supplies for oatmeal milling and other essential purposes from that portion of the crop which growers are able to offer for sale.

Flight-Lieutenant Boothby

Thank you very much.
