§ 40. Mr. Evelyn Walkdenasked the President of the Board of Trade whether any licences for the export of biscuits to the Dominion of Canada or other countries have been issued to biscuit manufacturers during 1941; and the total tonnage of biscuits exported during the six months ended 31st July, 1941?
§ Sir A. DuncanThe answer to the first part of the Question is in the affirmative. As regards the second part, publication of details relating to our overseas trade has been suspended since the outbreak of war in the national interest.
§ Mr. WalkdenDoes my right hon. Friend say that we are actually exporting biscuits to Canada in these days, when the housewives of this country are being rationed to the extent of aŬlb. per family per week, and in the industrial towns are having to queue up for them?
§ Sir A. DuncanAll export licences are issued in consultation with the Ministry of Food, and I shall be glad to consult with the Ministry of Food on the continuance of these export licences.
