HC Deb 23 October 1941 vol 374 c1879
9. Mr. Ellis Smith

asked the Minister of Labour whether any understanding has been reached with the trade unions as to the conditions with respect to pay under which men in the Forces may be employed on skilled work which would, except for the exigencies of the present situation, be done by civilians?

Mr. Bevin

No, Sir. In those cases of emergency in which military units have to be employed the conditions in regard to pay are those laid down in the Royal Warrant.
