HC Deb 23 October 1941 vol 374 c1877
4. Sir Robert Bird

asked the Minister of Labour what steps are being taken to secure that the several hundred able-bodied males in the population evacuated to this country from Gibraltar, now principally located in the London area, shall be employed in the national effort?

Mr. Bevin

Special steps were taken with a view to placing these persons in employment, but I am not entirely satisfied with the results and am taking the matter up in consultation with my right hon. Friends the Minister of Health and the Secretary of State for the Colonies.
