HC Deb 22 October 1941 vol 374 cc1768-9
32. Mr. Kenneth Lindsay

asked the Minister of Information whether he will consult with the Ministers of Supply and Labour in order to establish a definite policy for the publishing and paper industries, in view of the importance of this question to propaganda?

Mr. Bracken

Yes, Sir. I am fully aware of the problem presented by the industries in question and will certainly undertake to discuss it with my right hon. Friends who are primarily responsible for these industries.

Mr. Lindsay

Is the Minister aware that there is a growing shortage of technical books for the Forces, and will he do everything he can to overcome that difficulty?

Mr. Bracken

I shall certainly do everything in my power, but I have to secure the consent of the Minister of Supply, and I cannot pledge him without his authority. I have also to get the consent of the Minister of Labour, but we arc going to have a meeting soon to see what we can do about it.
