asked the Parliamentary Secretary to the Ministry of Works and Buildings, when the final report of the Uthwatt Committee will be available for Members of this House?

My Noble Friend has inquired of the Chairman, who cannot yet say when the final report will be ready. It is unlikely to be before Christmas. The Committee is proceeding with the examination of these complicated matters as quickly as possible.

Is it not a fact that the report has already achieved its final draft form, and is being held up in the hon. Gentleman's Department?

Mr. Hicks

That would certainly be a wrong assumption.

Was this report, like many others, drafted before the Committee began to meet?
