§ Captain MargessonI assume that my hon. and gallant Friend is referring to the Directorate of Investigation and Statistics, which was formed in April, 1940, in order to undertake inquiries into questions of administrative organisation and to assist in the compilation of statistics. The Directorate is administered, under the Permanent Under-Secretary, by a Director and a Deputy-Director.
