HC Deb 21 October 1941 vol 374 cc1620-1
43. Mr. Martin

asked the Minister of Pensions why 2013426 Sapper A. Holloway, of S.M.E. (T.T. Wing), Brompton Barracks, Chatham, was refused assistance by the War Service Grants Committee on behalf of his wife who is an expectant mother?

The Minister of Pensions (Sir Walter Womersley)

This is a case of the kind to which I referred in the Debate on 16th October where the low wages earned before service precluded any grant. Under the improved arrangements described in Cmd. Paper 6318 I am now in a position to make a grant and this will be put into payment as early as possible.
