asked the Parliamentary Secretary to the Ministry of Supply whether he will make a statement which will give hon. Members a picture of the chain of authority and division of duties of all officials and officers of the rank of director or brigadier, upwards, who are responsible under the Minister for the production of tanks?

The responsibility under the Minister for the production of tanks rests with the Director-General of Tank Supply, the Deputy Director-General of Tank Supply and three Directors of Tank Supply (A), (B) and (C). The division of duties between the three Directors is: (A) supply and delivery of raw materials; statistics and co-ordination; liaison with the Raw Materials Controls; (B) erection of tanks, and ordering and servicing tank supplies from overseas; and (C) ordering of components and spares; tank repairs; control of Tank Production Area Organisation; plant extension schemes.
