§ 27. Sir Henry Morris-Jonesasked the Parliamentary Secretary to the Ministry of Works and Buildings whether it is the intention of his Department to requisition five houses in Colwyn Bay; whether better alternative premises are available; and whether any arrangements have been made to secure accommodation for the householders who will be displaced and the evacuees who are billeted on them?
§ Mr. HicksThe problem of finding accommodation is one of great and increasing difficulty. I am advised that no better alternative premises are available, but I am anxious to avoid inflicting hardship if at all possible, and I am, therefore, endeavouring to find a solution which will not involve the requisitioning of these houses. I cannot, however, promise that this attempt will prove successful.
§ Sir H. Morris-JonesWill my hon. Friend be able to give me a more definite reply later, in view of the anxiety among the people concerned?
§ Sir H. Morris-JonesIs my hon. Friend aware that the Ministry have taken over every hotel, every boarding-house and every public school, and will he see that people are not displaced from their houses without consideration?
Mr. DavidsonIn how many parts of the country are the personnel of the Ministry of Works distributed?
