§ 16. Sir J. Wardlaw-Milneasked the Minister of Information what steps are being taken to keep the Chinese people fully informed of the state of the war in Europe and what Great Britain is doing, in view of the Japanese Pro-Axis propaganda and the suppression by Japan of the British Central China Post and Reuter's News Agency at Hankow; and what arrangements have been made to supply the Chinese Government with British news for broadcasting in China by its daily radio service?
§ Mr. BrackenThe Ministry of Information maintains four Press Attachés in China, and there are also news Bureaux attached to the various Consulates. Full use is made of all appropriate channels of publicity, particularly broadcasting. Reuter's news service is delivered to the Chinese Government News Agency in Chungking and goes to all Government Departments. I am satisfied that, thanks to the efforts of the officers concerned, these arrangements are yielding good results in spite of the many difficulties encountered.
§ Sir J. Wardlaw-MilneWill my right hon. Friend consider whether it is possible to give a little more information 967 through the Chinese Government's radio system, in view of the shutting down of Reuter's and other services?
§ Mr. BrackenCertainly, I will look into that matter.
