HC Deb 07 October 1941 vol 374 c820
16. Mr. Woodburn

asked the Secretary of State for War whether he is arranging with our Russian Allies that key British officers may have the opportunity of personal participation in the war on the Russian front in order that they may study at first hand German tactics and the best ways of defeating and countering them?

Captain Margesson

The best method of securing the maximum co-operation between the Russian and British Armies is being carefully examined in consultation with our Russian allies, and my hon. Friend's proposal will certainly be borne in mind. As has already been announced, General Mason-Macfarlane, the head of our military mission in Moscow, has himself visited the Russian front and obtained first-hand knowledge of the fighting there.
