HC Deb 01 October 1941 vol 374 cc569-70
42. Mr. Purbrick

asked the Parliamentary Secretary to the Ministry of War Transport whether it is the intention of the Government to encourage the work on the Western Avenue to by-pass Uxbridge; and, in view of the fact that practically no work has been done on this job during the last two years, whether they will get ahead with it and get it finished or stop the present intermittent work altogether, thereby releasing men, material and machinery for war purposes?

Colonel Llewellin

It is still hoped to complete the extension of the Western Avenue, and the work is proceeding as quickly as circumstances permit.
