14. Mr. Noel-Baker

asked the Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs whether His Majesty's Government are prepared to give any assistance towards medical aid for war victims in China?

Mr. Eden

Yes, Sir. His Majesty's Government have agreed to make a grant-in-aid of £50,000 to the British Fund for the Relief of Distress in China to meet expenditure on the maintenance of ambulance units for the treatment of sick and wounded soldiers and on relief activities generally in the war zones of Free China. Application will be made to Parliament in due course for the provision of the necessary funds, as required.
