§ Mr. H. MorrisonIn the first case, the two principals were fined £100 each and ordered to pay costs amounting to £18. In the second case, the two principals were ordered to pay fines and costs amounting to £85. In the fourth case the fines and costs amounted to £141 5s. In the third case proceedings have not yet been taken.
§ Mr. ThorneMay I take it that my right hon. Friend read the report of what the magistrate said about this club?
§ Mr. MorrisonPerhaps I might add that I regard many of these clubs as being thoroughly objectionable, pernicious, and parasitical at any time, and particularly in time of war. I hope that the police and magistrates will take a firm line in dealing with them; and I am sure that if I require additional powers, I shall have the support of the House.
