HC Deb 26 November 1941 vol 376 c758
67. Mr. Stokes

asked the Parliamentary Secretary to the Ministry of Supply whether any payment has been or will be made to the proprietors of the factory, of which he has had notice, on which work was recently discontinued; and, if so, how much?

Mr. Harold Macmillan

The proprietors of the factory undertook, on behalf of the Government, supervision of the work referred to in the answer which I gave to the hon. Member on 19th November. They will be paid the usual fee for such supervision. As the Ministry of Supply has now decided not to proceed with work at the factory, other Government Departments will shortly take over parts of the buildings.

Mr. Stokes

That does not answer the Question I put, namely, Is any payment going to be made to the factory, and will the hon. Gentleman also say whether the fee to which he refers is included in the expenditure he mentioned in his previous reply?

Mr. Macmillan

The usual fee will be paid, on a 1 per cent. basis. I do not know the actual sum, because there are still some adjustments to make, but it will be in the neighbourhood of £1,300.

Mr. Stokes

Is that all that will be paid to the factory?
