HC Deb 25 November 1941 vol 376 c576
7. Sir R. Acland

asked the Secretary of State for War whether any instructions or advice have been sent to commanding officers of units on the subject of the new allowances to dependants of men serving in the Army?

Captain Margesson

If, as I assume, my hon. Friend is referring to the revised method of assessing the special allowances known as war service grants, the new arrangements have been fully explained in a recent Army Council Instruction, which describes in detail the procedure to be followed in making applications for grants and directs that this information shall be brought to the notice of all ranks.
