HC Deb 25 November 1941 vol 376 c591
31. Mr. Gordon Macdonald

asked the Secretary for Mines if he is satisfied that the colliery wagon and boxes repair shops are in a position to deal effectively with the present wagon shortage; and what action he proposes taking to remove this difficulty?

The Secretary for Mines (Mr. David Grenfell)

The repair of wagons used for the conveyance of coal by the railways is a matter for my noble Friend the Minister of War Transport, but so far as wagons or boxes for internal use at collieries are concerned, I am not aware of any cases where the colliery repair shops have been unable to meet their essential needs.
