§ 17. Sir W. Davisonasked the Secretary of State for War whether he has ascertained the reason for transferring some 3,000 officer prisoners of war from various camps to Oflag VI B; whether he can assure the House that conditions in this camp are satisfactory, in particular that there is no overcrowding; that adequate supplies of clothing and rations are provided; and whether such supplies are comparable to those provided for German prisoners of war in this country?
§ Captain MargessonI am not aware of the reasons for the transfer of officers to Oflag VI B. This camp has very recently been inspected both by the Protecting Power and the International Red Cross Committee, and I am awaiting their reports. I have no reason to think that the position of officers in respect of food and clothing will be adversely affected by the transfer, and, so far as Red Cross parcels are concerned, I understand that supplies are being sent to the new camp.
§ Sir W. DavisonWill the report be published as soon as it is received?
§ Captain MargessonI will look into that.
§ Sir W. DavisonDoes my right hon. and gallant Friend know what the camp is like?
§ Captain MargessonAt the moment I have no details.
