HC Deb 20 November 1941 vol 376 c456
46. Dr. Little

asked the Prime Minister whether, as an exemplification of our trust in God for victory and for the encouragement and strengthening of our people for the defeat of our enemies, he will consider the setting apart of five minutes at a fixed hour each day when the nation will call upon God in prayer for His assistance towards bringing the war to a speedy and successful issue?

Mr. Attlee

No, Sir. We have already the one minute's silence in the broadcast at 9 o'clock each night.

Dr. Little

May I ask my right hon. Friend whether he recognises that five minutes spent by the nation in prayer each day to Almighty God would hasten our war effort towards victory?
