HC Deb 29 May 1941 vol 371 cc1986-7
47. Miss Ward

asked the Prime Minister whether, in view of certain problems which have arisen known to him, he will consider appointing a Minister of Social Welfare for severely-bombed areas?

The Prime Minister

No, Sir. I do not think that there are circumstances which would justify the creation of a new Ministry for this purpose.

Miss Ward

In view of the fact that there is a fairly strong opinion on this matter, may I ask my right hon. Friend not to close his mind until after the Debate upon the Civil Defence services?

The Prime Minister

I will keep my mind ajar.
