HC Deb 15 May 1941 vol 371 c1249
28. Mr. Sorensen

asked the President of the Board of Education whether, in the consideration of schemes of post-war education, the desirability of securing the transfer of urban schools to a country area for a term each year is included?

The President of the Board of Education (Mr. Ramsbotham)

It is already the practice of some local education authorities of urban areas to arrange for children from their schools to spend short periods in the country. I certainly look to an extension of this practice after the war.

Mr. Sorensen

May I ask the right hon. Gentleman whether he will amplify that answer that the extension refers to the length of the period during which urban schools will remain in country areas?

Mr. Ramsbotham

I do not think that I can give details of post-war education arrangements now, but, as I say, I look for an extension of the practice.
