HC Deb 15 May 1941 vol 371 cc1247-8
19. Mr. Higgs

asked the Home Secretary whether he will consider altering the permitted hours during which intoxicants can be sold in licensed houses from 6 p.m. to 10 p.m., to 7 p.m. to 11 p.m., during the period while extended summer-time is in force?

Mr. H. Morrison

I have no power to alter the permitted hours fixed by licensing justices at brewster sessions after consideration of the particular needs of their districts, and I do not think that there is sufficient ground to justify the legislation which would be necessary to give effect to my hon. Friend's suggestion.
