HC Deb 06 May 1941 vol 371 c702
66. Captain John Dugdale

asked the Secretary of State for the Home Department whether he is satisfied that the supply of steel helmets and respirators for despatch riders is adequate?

The Joint Parliamentary Secretary to the Ministry of Home Security (Mr. Mabane)

Yes, Sir.

Captain Dugdale

Is the hon. Gentleman aware that the supplies in West Bromwich happen to be only half of the amount required by the total number of despatch riders there, and that in consequence half the despatch riders have to go out on duty without either Service respirators or steel helmets?

Mr. Mabane

I am not quite clear about that. Perhaps my hon. and gallant Friend will give me details.
