§ 35. Mr. Sorensenasked the Secretary of State for India whether he will secure facilities for other Indians, whose views may not altogether coincide with those of the Indians who have proceeded to the United States of America, with facilities specially secured by him, in order to present the British Government point of view respecting India, also to proceed to the United States of America?
§ The Secretary of State for India (Mr. Amery)No Indian has been given special facilities to proceed to the United States of America for the purpose referred to by the hon. Member.
§ Mr. SorensenAm I to understand that no Indians have recently proceeded to the United States to put the British point of view, and does not the right hon. Gentleman agree that it is highly desirable to have Indians go to the United States so as to advertise to the United States the splendid impartiality of this country?
§ Mr. AmeryCertainly, Indians have proceeded to the United States on their own business and not for the purpose of presenting the British Government's case. On the other hand, I do not think the hon. Member could expect us to send to the United States those who wish to oppose the Allies.
