HC Deb 25 March 1941 vol 370 c420
32. Mr. R. J. Taylor

asked the Secretary for Mines whether he will take such action as will provide heat and refreshment for miners when they are detained for certain reasons from ascending to the surface at the end of their shift?

Mr. Grenfell

If the hon. Member refers to delay in winding men occasioned by enemy action, I would suggest that the matter be raised by discussion between the representative bodies which usually deal with such matters in order that they may investigate the possibilities of providing the warm drinks or other form of refreshment which is suggested in the Question. I have not received any communication from the men in any district on this matter.

Mr. Taylor

Will not my hon. Friend take definite steps to meet this requirement?

Mr. Grenfell

I have said that I have not received any communication on the subject from the men.
