HC Deb 18 March 1941 vol 370 c18
37. Sir E. Cadogan

asked the Minister of Supply whether, apart from the appointment of a special transport officer, he proposes to take any further steps to co ordinate industrial demands with trans port facilities?

The Joint Parliamentary Secretary to the Ministry of Supply (Mr. Harold Macmillan)

No, Sir. The Controller-General of Transportation for the Ministry of Supply deals with all transport and storage matters affecting the Ministry, and with certain traffic questions affecting the Ministry of Works and Buildings and the Ministry of Agriculture and Fisheries. The general question of the co-ordination of industrial demands with transport facilities is being considered by my right hon. Friend the Minister of Transport, in consultation with the other Departments concerned.
