HC Deb 18 March 1941 vol 370 cc5-6
15. Mr. Parker

asked the Secretary of State for War what percentage of the total commissions given from infantry Officer Cadet Training Units for the period 27th September to 27th December, 1940, was represented by the sample which showed successful pupils in the ratio of 26 from public and 74 from grammar, council or secondary schools?

Mr. Law

The figures to which my hon. Friend refers were obtained by taking at random a proportion of the commissions given from infantry Officer Cadet Training Units. The number of commissions considered for this purpose represented about 20 per cent. of the total number of commissions given from infantry Officer Cadet Training Units during the period in question.

Mr. Parker

Could the hon. Gentleman say how many public schools they were from?

Mr. Law

I am afraid I cannot answer that question now.
