HC Deb 13 March 1941 vol 369 c1417
19. Mr. Hannah

asked the Home Secretary whether he will consider the appointment of a small committee to investigate the possibility of farmers using sun-time while the bulk of the community employs daylight saving time, as is found convenient in some sections of the American West?

Mr. H. Morrison

I understand that my right hon. Friend the Minister of Agriculture has under consideration certain proposals which have been submitted to him by farmers' representatives. In these circumstances I do not think that the appointment of a special committee of inquiry is necessary.

Mr. Hannah

If we must take our time from Berlin, or even from Moscow, may we not allow the farmer to follow the tradition of a thousand years, and take his time from God?
