HC Deb 12 March 1941 vol 369 c1287
55. Mr. Stokes

asked the Minister of Supply what percentage of the total steel used in Great Britain is now being imported from the United States of America?

Sir A. Duncan

It would not be in the public interest to disclose the information for which the hon. Member asks.

Mr. Stokes

On the assumption that the amount imported is a small minority of the whole, would it not be to the general advantage to maintain the price of home-produced steel at a proper level and give a direct subsidy from the Government?

Mr. Deputy-Speaker

That does not arise.
