HC Deb 12 March 1941 vol 369 c1289
63. Mr. Graham White

asked the Parliamentary Secretary to the Ministry of Food the reasons why the proposal to restart the Monitrie farina factory was not proceeded with?

Major Lloyd George

No decision has been taken not to restart the Monitrie factory. The question is now under examination in the light of the present starch supply position.

Mr. White

Having regard to the time during which this matter has been under consideration, and the possibility of a growing shortage of starch, will the hon. and gallant Gentleman see that action is taken to deal with the matter?

Major Lloyd George

There will be no undue delay, and the question of starch supplies is very much as it was.
