HC Deb 04 March 1941 vol 369 cc764-5
43. Mr. Parker

asked the Minister of Transport whether he is aware that the London Passenger Transport Board has refused workmen's tickets to the Auxiliary Fire Service; and whether he will take steps to have this anomaly removed and grant this facility equally to the Auxiliary Fire Service as it is granted to other workers who earn far higher wages?

The Parliamentary Secretary to the Ministry of Transport (Mr. Montague)

Members of the Auxiliary Fire Service have the same facilities as other members of the public for obtaining workmen's tickets during the normal hours of issue on weekdays and at any time on Sundays. Any who are employed as artisans, mechanics and labourers can obtain workmen's tickets outside the normal hours on weekdays under the same conditions as other artisans, mechanics and labourers.
