HC Deb 24 June 1941 vol 372 cc923-4
1. Major Milner

asked the Secretary of State for War whether he is satisfied that, having regard to the information furnished by the hon. Member for South-East Leeds by letter, dated 24th May, the arrangements made for the defence of the War Office are, at all times, adequate against every form of enemy activity?

The Secretary of State for War (Captain Margesson)

Yes, Sir.

Major Milner

Does the right hon. and gallant Gentleman tell us that it is sufficient during certain hours, at one entrance to the War Office, for only one policeman to be on duty?

Captain Margesson

I do not want to go into details of the protection afforded at the War Office against possible unwanted intruders, but I have looked into this matter, and that is why I gave the answer I did.

Major Milner

Will the right hon. and gallant Gentleman give me, confidentially, the information on this matter, because it is one of considerable concern, and I am far from satisfied?

Captain Margesson

Yes, Sir.
