HC Deb 24 June 1941 vol 372 c946
36. Mr. Parker

asked the right hon. and gallant Member for Rye, as representing the Forestry Commissioners, whether, when a warning was given to the Forestry Commission two years ago about a shortage of medicinal herbs, the Commission concerned itself with the production of such herbs in suitable areas under its control?

Colonel Sir George Courthope (Forestry Commissioner)

The powers and duties conferred or imposed on, or transferred to the Forestry Commissioners by the Forestry Acts do not include the production of medicinal herbs. Consequently the Commission has not concerned itself with such production.
