HC Deb 12 June 1941 vol 372 c320
39. Mr. J. Griffiths

asked the Home Secretary whether he will make a statement indicating what assistance is available to local authorities to enable bombed sites to be cleared of debris; and what arrangements exist in regard to the salvage of material of value to the war effort?

Mr. H. Morrison

Full guidance has been given to local authorities regarding the clearance of debris from bombed sites, and they may claim reimbursement for reasonable expenditure incurred. Steps for the recovery of goods and materials are taken by the owner or by the Department having a direct interest, and local authorities have been asked to assist where necessary.
