HC Deb 10 June 1941 vol 372 c27
58. Mr. Banfield

asked the Parliamentary Secretary to the Ministry of Food whether, in view of the fact that day baking has been established in Birmingham, Coventry and other Midland towns for some months and that an ample supply of bread has been available for these industrial centres, he will make further inquiries before finally deciding that day baking is impracticable?

Major Lloyd George

I would refer my hon. friend to the Answer given to the hon. and learned Member for Greenock (Mr. R, Gibson) by my right hon. Friend the Minister of Labour and National Service on 1st May, 1941.

Mr. Banfield

Surely, in view of the representation which has been made and the further evidence that has been given to him, the hon. and gallant Gentleman will make some inquiries?

Major Lloyd George

I have received further evidence from the hon. Gentleman which I am looking into at the present time.
