HC Deb 30 July 1941 vol 373 c1379
5. Commander Sir Archibald Southby

asked the Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs whether any commitment has been entered into by the Government affecting the form of our international relationships after the war?

Mr. Eden

No, Sir. I think it would be premature to anticipate the post-war structure of international relations at the present time.

Sir A. Southby

Is my right hon. Friend aware that the name of the Undersecretary of State for Foreign Affairs appears as a prominent supporter of the policy known as "Federal Union" in the literature and prospectus of the body called Federal Union, Limited, and is it desirable that His Majesty's Government should thereby be directly connected with the policy of federal union?

Mr. Eden

I was not aware of that. I do not suppose that my hon. Friend's name has been added since he became Under-Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs.

Sir A. Southby

Would it not be desirable that my hon. Friend's name should be deleted from the prospectus now that he is a Member of the Government?
