HC Deb 30 July 1941 vol 373 c1391
34. Mr. Granville

asked the First Lord of the Admiralty whether he will consider the setting up of a film unit attached to the Royal Navy for the purpose of recording sea and air operations and co-operating in the making of special films with a propaganda and news value both here and abroad?

The First Lord of the Admiralty (Mr. A. V. Alexander)

The Navy already has an organisation for making instructional and training films. In addition, a considerable number of news reel cameramen are attached to the various naval commands. The establishment of a film unit is already under consideration.
