HC Deb 15 July 1941 vol 373 cc425-6
1. Mr. Liddall

asked the President of the Board of Trade whether he is aware that book-matches called "Spitfire," with a print of an aeroplane on a red, white and blue disc, are being sold in this country; from which country they are imported; and what is the contribution made by exporter or importer to a Spitfire fund?

The President of the Board of Trade (Sir Andrew Duncan)

Yes, Sir. These matches were imported from Italy in the early part of 1940, and there is still a small stock left. On the last part of the Question I have no information.
