HC Deb 10 July 1941 vol 373 cc290-1
13. Mr. Sorensen

asked the Secretary of State for India whether, in view of the present consideration in this country of possible social and economic adjustment and expansion after the war, and a measure of preparation to this end before the end of the war, any comparable plans for India are being, or will be, considered both in respect of the automobile and shipping industries, and of other industries and socially necessary services?

The Secretary of State for India (Mr. Amery)

The Government of India have recently appointed a reconstruction committee to deal with post-war problems of readjustment of industry and labour. I have no doubt the committee will consider all the matters to which the hon. Member refers.

Mr. Sorensen

Is the scope of that Committee as wide as that given to one of our Cabinet Ministers regarding our own British reconstruction?

Mr. Amery

I have not yet received full details.

Mr. Sorensen

Will those details be made public?

Mr. Amery

The hon. Member might ask me again.
