§ The Under-Secretary of State for Scotland (Mr. Westwood)I am aware of the flooding which has recently taken place. A scheme, which aims at lowering the flood level on the River Almond is being prepared under the Land Drainage (Scotland) Act, 1941. Engineering surveys have been carried out, a scheme of work has been designed and the assessment of agricultural benefit to the lands is now in progress. It is the intention to proceed with the scheme as soon as the procedure required in terms of the Act has been complied wth.
§ Mr. MathersWhat amount of benefit is it hoped to secure by these plans?
§ Mr. WestwoodIt is designed to benefit about 1,570 acres of land.
